:hello: I've just been reading a lot of the previous post. I have to say wow, what a supportive community. So glad I found it. I have a concern I would like your opinion on. The jobs that you apply at online that what a lot of information about you. How do you know you can trust them with your information? Is it worth the gamble?
:wav:
Hi--and welcome. I like your question--and don't pretend to know the right answer. What kinds of questions are they asking that make you uncomfortable?

I guess, hearing about all the identity thefts. I've become a bit concerned with any of my information being out there. Not that my identity is off the chart. Lol I was just curious, if it should be a concern or not. Most of the questions where - full name, address, phone numbers. Just the basics info, and I was hoping some of you who have been doing stuff longer on the internet might have some advice. :t4:

My name, address and phone number are all over the internet. Is there a particular company you are concerned about? If so, post the URL here and let us have a look.

No particular company, I just wanted some opinions on giving your info over the internet.

It all depends on what your signing up for. All direct sales companies will ask for your social security number. This is normal. These are legitimate companies who by law must report your income.
All I can say is if you find something you want to join, post the link here, let us all have a look and we'll give you our opinions on whether it's safe to give that site your information :)

Thanks Erica,
I had no idea that https was secure and http wasn't. Thanks for sharing that important tidbit.

In addition to the above hints, here I have got these four tips which may protect job seekers from some of the scams:
1. Never give personal bank account, PayPal, or credit card numbers to an employer.
2. Never agree to have funds or paychecks direct deposited to any of your accounts by a new employer.
3. Never forward, transfer, or "wire" money to an employer.
4. Do not transfer money and retain a portion for payment.

Veronica,
Those are EXCELLENT tips. There are many scams out there involving the transfer of funds :(
