I am thinking of having my own small hair salon at home in the basement. Have any one involved in this kind of business? I love it and I also like to do make up. I believe I am very good at it, I do that for some of my relative and friends and they are very happy about it. I also think of having my own website to get the business going in my communication of course.

The beauty salon is a terrific idea! I don't know what kind of licenses you need though.

Most states have strict licensing requirements - both for the stylist, the salon manager and owner. Not to mention requirements for make up artists. Virtually any position that requires touching other people is regulated. Then, you'll have to deal with zoning laws, public health laws, etc. when trying to have that type of business in your home. Last, but certainly not least, you'll have to deal with your insurance company to make sure you have enough liability insurance.

I suggest you do a lot of research.

I think that would be a great business if it was for friends and aquaintances of yours. I know a lady that offered that same kind of service to people in my church and I think she got a fair amount of business from the church members because they knew and trusted her. I wouldn't feel comfortable going down into someone's basement that I didn't know to get my hair or makeup done, but that's just me.
