My daughter hasn't quite yet realized the meaning of "holding it" when it comes to going potty. Last weekend, our family went to see some friends who lived about 4-5 hours away (traffic, weather, stops...); when we were about 45 minutes from our destination, the little decided she needed to go. Not wanting to stop, we asked if she could wait and she said she could. 2 minutes later she said she needed to go again, so my husband said "we're nearly there, can you hold it for just a bit more?" She responded yes...and to held herself. Literally! Front and back. On our way home, we had been driving for a while but were stopping at my sisters house as she was on the way. I mentioned that I needed to go but that I would hold it til we got to Auntie's house. To this she replied, "but how do you drive with only one hand?" When trying to explain that I don't literally hold it, she looked confused. My husband and I have been laughing about it since.

Christy,

That's cute. We sometimes forget the literal meaning of our words.
