Where are the clients?!

Hi everyone,

I'm a virtual assistant in Canada and need some advice. I started my business in November '07 and although people have been interested in my services, getting them to actually PAY for it is something else! Why does everyone feel it should be a free service to use a virtual assistant? What I do saves them time. Sometimes, a LOT of time!

I'm pretty frustrated. I've sent direct mail, direct e-mail, paid newspaper advertising. I've tried listing my services on places such as Craigslist, with no results.

Normally I'm a positive, optimistic person, but this is really getting me down. My rates are reasonable, I'm easy to work with. Sometimes I wonder if I'm doing the right thing by trying to work from home.

GRRRRRR. It's such a major bummer when you have to hound clients for payment!

Have you tried elance (http://www.elance.com/c/splash/main/publish.pl?rid=AAGT&f=sellerfunnel1)? I've always had great luck finding clients through their service. They recently reduced their pricing structure too which is great.
