Do you have favorite childhood memories that always bring a smile to your face?

I can often think of my grandmother and it really does make me smile. She was like a 2nd mother to me and she taught me to cook, needlepoint, latch hook and so much more.

I grew up with my cousins next door, my grandma next to them, grandma's brother across the street from her, my dads cousin one house over from us. I can often think back to those days especially when I am with my siblings; wonderful times

My sister & I used to live with my grandmother and downstairs lived my aunt & uncle. Everyday Saturday my sister & I used to make dinner for them. We would make a menu and everything. The meals were all stupid stuff execpt for the 1 thing that we were planning on cooking. We would even make a sign & hang it on my grandmother's door. We made them stay downstairs until 1 of us came to get them. :sun:

My favorite memory is in the back seat of the car with my brother... something cracked us up so much we both had soda coming through our noses! Never drank much soda, this was one of those rare fast food occasions in my childhood - so I'm sure that contributed to our giddiness!

I love my memory of my mom standing by the side of the road, my brother and I were going on a fieldtrip for school and our car had broken down on our way to school.

I recall my mom a very heavy set lady, hurring up the road crossing and stopping the school bus so that my brother and I could go on the field trip.

My mom did not go home that day she waited by the broken down car for us to come back, and we all walked home together. We laughed so hard as my mom acted as if she was starving and was willing to eat anything on the side of the road.

It was rare that our mom would act silly, so for her to be in such a great mood after waiting over 10 hours for us to return. I was amazed at how much she loves us. :thumb:

We lived near the ocean when I was a child. We (all six of us) would sleep outside all night, each with a beach towel on the sand. The stars seemed touchable and the rhythmic waves a lullaby.

Nani,

That's a nice memory :) I love the ocean. I've always lived on the coast.

This was my favorite memory...

I was about 11 or 12 years old. It was winter time and we had just gotten a really, really bad ice storm. This storm shut the schools down for 2 or 3 days...can't remember which. I was like YEAH!!! LOL :D

I got up after listening to the school closings and looked outside. There was my Dad in the middle of the street having a ball ice skating...only without skates on. ;)

All the cars, trees, houses were all covered with a thick blanket of ice. It was beautiful. I quickly got dressed and joined my Dad. My Mom was still in bed sawing logs. lol :p

I had a ball with my Dad in the street that day. We were out there for quite awhile. A lovely memory that was. :thumb:
