Has anyone experimented with direct mail to find new clients?

When I sold Avon, I did buy very inexpensive address only leads that I sent postcards to. It did work.

AUDREY:

I've always thought that mailer leads could prove VERY worth while for Avon and other such businesses.

The demographic is easily isolated, and diverse! In addition so much of the business is heavily word of mouth and network marketing, I believe that people would be well served to increase their market share and receive FURTHER word of mouth and enlarged networks.

How do you find this sort of info?

Tami,

I deleted the answer as it was an ad for the company the original poster works for.

If you want to buy leads, there are tons of companies out there that sell them.

Get testimonials. Not all lead companies are the same.

I actually used a reverse directory and blindly mailed out postcards, x amount per week.

It worked. I targeted neighborhoods that I knew folks could afford the products I was selling.

Specific sales data is more affective. IMHO. When you know that the list you have is TARGETED. Using targeted data allows you to ensure that you send the card (which has cost) to someone whom is a statistically relevant choice for your products.

This is an investment in your business. If you do it properly you'll save on your campaign and learn for your future campaigns.

For example, you can send out post cards and wait for the result, or you can test. If you send and wait, you may get some business... MONEY. However, if you test, you'll have knowledge that can benefit you over future campaigns and use this marketing as a long term strategy.

Try creating multiple types of customer profile for your product. Send out differing tet offers to these groups. See which types of offer or sales copy work the best. Add these into your long term sales & marketing strategy.

It’s just about taking your business seriously enough to invest, and capitalize!

Also, Audrey is 100% correct. I see that I cannot recommend any one lead company, so I no longer will. However, I suggest, you give them a call. See if you can get anyone with some knowledge on the phone. Find if they are willing to work with you to get you a list that will work for you. Compare their pricing, however don’t let pricing be the only factor. This is simply because there are many companies that will sell you garbage contact information out of the white pages, just to meet your count requirements.

I hope this has been helpful!

Audrey
