What keyword tools do you use? I use two. I use good keywords 2.0 which is a program you download onto your desktop and I use http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/ which is an online tool. What about you, what tools do you use?

I have never used search engine opt. I heard that it can be pricey and risky?

I tend to take the ones that everyone else is using and 'long tail' them. This will help to fill a niche. Example, if I sell dogs, I'll use dogs, but, I'll use 'dogs in indiana for sale'.

This is in the hopes of catching a specific search for that keyword. I also add keywords into my ALT tags. Helping to get more keyword coverage on each page.

Lori,

It's $50 per month. What do you feel you get from them that you don't get from the free tools?

Hi Audrey,

What I like about keyworddiscovery is that they compile their data from over 180 different search engines.

I was suprised to learn that wordtracker only got their data from dogpile and metacrawler...

I'm not sure on the free tools. I never could figure out where webceo got their data from...

But I feel that is the most critical feature.

It's pricey. If I didn't do a lot of SEO professionally I wouldn't likely invest in it. But one hour or less of SEO work pays for the month. And I have the year subscription so it only hurts once a year :)

For personal sites, it might make sense to use a few of the free tools and compare the data if budget is an issue.

I like KeyWord Discovery, Wordtracker, and the Google AdWords tool. I miss the old Overture tool.

I use Adwords.google.com (Google relevant Keywords) which is FREE and I have a membership to One Source and they have a great feature that tells you the supply and demand percentage of a product and the recent keywords that people used online to find that product.
