Retail Shopping

I'm not a fan of retail shopping. Customer service does not exist. Any time I'm out shopping I can tell stories of cashiers who have no clue, sales folks who are all standing around chatting while I'm searching for what I want etc.

Anyone have ideas on how customer service could be improved or is this just the way it is?
