Have you made friends online that were true friends? Over the years I've met some awesome people online. A few I've met live and others we've just talked on the phone and via email. What about you?

I have a few online I consider true friends and I've met a lot of wonderful people online. Yesterday I received an email from someone I hadn't heard from in a loooong time. It was really nice and a great surprise.

Yes, I have met some friends online that I consider to be very close friends. Some are even like my extended family. They are the ones that are always there when I need them.

I guess I am the odd one out here. I have never made true friends online, only surface friends and people to chat with. However, I think that will change, as I can tell that many of you would make great friends.
I look foreward to getting to know you all more in the future.
Have a great day!

I have found many firends in the web but only one was a true friend... the others just wanted to win something by being my friend...:(
But a few time ago i found that my true friend was saying not so good things about me... well i still good friend of her, but i take care with what i said to her, cause she doesn´t know that i found that... even so i like her... she helped me much when i needed...

I share a special bond with a group of ladies online -- we were all reps for a specific DS company that went south and left us high and dry. We "met" each other over a year ago and still keep in touch through a members-only forum one of the reps created originally for us to discuss the goings-on of that DS company. Now we share our daily lives, special events, and new ventures with each other.

I've met some awesome people online and I consider them to be true friends. Online friends are different, though. For the most part, they can only offer support via email and phone so its not the same as an in-person friend. I do consider them to be true friends even considering the limitations of cyberspace. I would love to have the opportunity to meet them live and in-person! :hi:

Mary Ann,
Over the years I've had the opportunity to meet folks from online in person. And you're right, it's AWESOME :)

Over the years I have meet some great friends online. One of the great thing is though the friends I have meet in real life have become online friends, rather than losing touch when we move away. Isn't that great!!!

I have numerous online and offline friends.
Several of my online friends and I have met offline over the years. My one friend Joan and I met online 3 years ago and then since then we have gotten together once a year offline with our last trip being to Atlantic City NJ together in February. I live in PA and she lives in FL. I treasure my friendships whether they be online or offline.

That's really cool that you can build a relationship with a friend online and feel close enough to even get together yearly! I look forward to getting "knit in" here and maybe having friends like that :-)

Yes, I have made some very close friends online. I am also able to maintain closer relationships with friends and relatives while working 3rd shift thanks to cyberspace!

Yeah I have got many good friends online, I like the idea of social networking and forums, it helps bring like minded people together from all over the world. I can’t think of any other method that achieves this so easily.
I hope to see all my online friends on the beach soon, but until then I will be their true friend here on the Web - another part of the world made up of all my online buddies :D .

You bet!
When my husband died two years ago, my friends who I have never met in person were very very good to me. Our friendships continue. :)

Our city has a website with a forum that is huge. 20k+ users! I'm very involved with it and I think every single one of my friends that I've made since we've moved here about 5 years ago is from that forum! We have playdates, GNOs, etc.
I'm pretty shy and hate the phone, so this forum helps me to get my daily adult interaction in while sitting at home, plus I get to get out and be with my friends when I want. I LOVE IT!

I have a group of ladies that I hang out with online on a private board.
We all started out on one board and then it got closed down, so someone started another board. Well, she was a psycho, so the majority of us left and started yet a new board.
Well, some of us found out that there were members (including the board owner) who had a "secret" board and they were talking about the regular members. so we went to yet another board.
With all of that said, we went from about 100 ladies down to the 23 we have now.
We have been through a lot in the last 5 years, but it was worth it. I have 22 really close friends, even though I've never met any of them, they know more about me than the majority of my real life friends.

What a neat story. I too have known people online that I speak too a bit more often than those who are local to me.

There is no doubt true friendships and connections can be made online. I have online buddies (some for about 9 years now) and serveral I've met in person. I've been blessed with some of them developing further into an amazing friendship offline. For that I am grateful!
