Cutting soft foods
When cutting soft foods such as bread or tomatoes, do not apply any downward pressure to the knife as this can squash the food. Let the sharpness of the blade do the work by moving the knife back and forth until you have cut cleanly through the food.

Cutting sticky foods
When slicing sticky foods such as cake or pudding, dip the blade in hot water before you slice. This will prevent the knife sticking and keep each slice from crumbling.

Slicing and dicing
When slicing and dicing, always hold the object with your fingernails facing the blade. This is the safest way to cut through foods fast.

Wiping the blade
When wiping the knife blade clean with a cloth, always face the blade away from your body. This will reduce the chance of accidentally cutting yourself.
