It seems every one I have met writing seem to be shifting gears.

I have been writing, seriously, for about a year now. I can see how much my writing has changed, progressed and my focus is headed in a new direction.

I am wondering what everyone else is doing. I have a friend who is ghost writing for content websites. Is there anyone else out there doing this? Is it profitable for you?

That's wonderful you have been able to do that for a year. What have you been doing and which way are you headed now? That is so exciting when you embark on something new. It's great to watch it unfold and hopefully it'll all work out great, even better than you expected.

Well, as for me, I've been writing professionally for going on 20 years. It's all been in the newspaper business. I took on editing, oh about 12 years ago. For the last four years I've been freelance writing and editing, still mostly in the newspaper business. I write human interest pieces for a few newspapers in my area, and I produce from start to finish a couple of newsletters for nonprofits. I do some other miscellaneous writing/editing as well.

(Right now I can't do a lot of anything because I have a six-month-old baby to take care of!)

I have to admit I have never tried ghost writing or any type of online work for that matter. I know that a lot of work at home writer moms do that, though, and it works out great for them. I guess because my background is in print I've had more success with that as a freelancer.

That is quite a bit though! I have thought about writing for newspapers, but we are military and move every 2 to 3 years. Though we are looking at our last move coming up. Won't that be nice?

I am basically ghost writing at the moment for a how to website. It's a lot of fun. I get to learn about a lot of different subjects and I get paid.

I still write for AC (got to spread those eggs in baskets around don't you know). And I am working on my book. Isn't every writer writing a book?

I have to tell you though I am impressed you have been doing it for 20 years. I can't wait until I am able to say I have been at it that long. Right now my goal is to just to be able to support myself with my venture.

Deana, you have tons of great articles! WTG. I loved the ghost stories. And if I ever get a chance to visit New Hampshire these business reviews are wonderful!

I enjoy writing for AC. Now granted I haven't been doing much lately, but I do enjoy it's free style, publish anything break. And the quick pay turn around if they make you an offer. You can check out my AC profile at http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/31046/judilynn.html
Though I am a bit upset at the moment. My latest article isn't even showing up on the recently published list. So it won't get many page views at all. But we will move on :) AC helped me get started so I won't say bad things about them.

I see you do party planning too? That has to be fun. Is that with a company or is that all your own? Just curious.

Have a great day writing!!!

Well...I must say I'm impressed with all three of you guys, Michelle, Judi, and Deana! I'm sure I'll never have the time to read all of your articles, I wish I had the time! ;)

Great work you guys! :thumb:

For me, I'm just now getting my feet wet with writing. I'm discovering I love doing it! It is really hard sometimes finding the time to sit and write with running my websites.

I guess I'm going to have to re-evaluate where my priorities are. I'm not giving up either one...writing or my websites! I will figure it out. ;)

But for right now...to destress and have fun, I write on my new blog...my journal.

Tammy's Journal (http://tammys-journal.blogspot.com) :D

you know Tammy, I have always kept a journal. I have since I was a little girl. But I hated english class. I hated writing papers. I love to read though. But I barely made it through those HS and college classes.

About 2 years ago I started writing a book. It was just something that was "in" me. Then a year ago I started writing for AC and then my current contract. I couldn't be happier. I love it.

That sounds so strange to me. My mom is shocked. Not only is she shocked that I can make money writing online, but that I enjoy it so much, and that I am pretty good at it and getting better. (not to brag, there are a lot better, but you know)

Just goes to show, if you follow your heart and do what you love, you will get there! And sometimes, you find what you love in the strangest places!

Hey Judi,

I'm so glad you are having success with writing. :D

You have written some awesome articles. I'm thinking about writing some short stories. I have lots of ideas. lol

I'm going to have to set aside a couple of days during the week for just writing. Even if it's just half days for writing.

And I've pestered you again...you have a PM from me. :p

I write articles on ezine articles & goarticles, advertising my blog, ebooks & my lingerie/jewerly website.

And like all other writers I too am writing my book. I actually have tons of stories that I wrote as as little girl, that I am editing. Then I am thinking of wrting 1 book sort of combining them all. I want to take all the female main characters & have them all go to an all girls college & meet.

If that actually gets published *crosses fingers* then I want to put the others out so that my readers can get to know the main characters better.

Hey, Judi and everyone!

What a great topic! It sounds like you've all been keeping very busy. Me too!

For starters, I've completed my latest manuscript and just got the finished files back from my designer. My booklet will be rolling out in January. It's titled, "Simple Tips And Recipes For Feeding The Gluten Free/Dairy Free Child. There's a huge market for this booklet (I know this from experience as I'm the mom of a child on this diet) and I'm so anxious to get it on the market! I know it's going to do very well.

Also, I have completed my portion of two new products just for authors and I'm now working on the third one in the series. Tell me what you think of these titles:

1) The Author's Action Guide To Booklet Writing: How To Write Booklets That Sell Like Crazy And Create A Rush Of Cashflow That Floods Your Bank Account.

2) The Author's Action Guide To Booklet Production: How To Produce Your Manuscript Into A Professional Product That Will Make You Money

3) The Author's Action Guide To Booklet Marketing: Sales Strategies That Will Get Your Booklet Sold By The Thousands And Stuff Your Pockets With Cash.

These aren't available yet. The first one will be available in January. I'm still working out a delivery system, but I'll probably be offering both an electronic version as well as a mailed version. What do you think about that?

I'm also really up to my neck in marketing tactics right now and OMG! I can't begin to tell you everything it's doing for my business! I've got two meetings coming up this week that I'm so excited about I can barely sleep at night!

Let's see, what else am I doing? Oh, just too much to write here. But, hey, did you see the topic I posted here asking for help? Doesn't anyone want to tell me what you think about my website? I'd sure appreciate hearing your opinions. I'm about to make some changes and I'm trying to get as much input as I can before I touch anything. Just tell me if my main page draws you in or not. That's really what I'm looking for.

Hey, Judi - remember last time I wrote here? I've come a long way since then! I'm getting everything done so fast now it's making MY head spin! :D

Keep up the good work ladies! It sounds like you're all doing very well for yourselves! Oh, and those of you thinking of writing books - consider a booklet. I speak from experience on this one! Booklets are much faster to write and cheaper to produce - meaning you can make money ALOT faster! Give it some thought.

Well, it's getting late here and I've still got lots to do. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday (I worked most of the day and my hubby did ALL the cooking! Can't complain!).

Hi there,

Sounds like you're a very busy person. I wish you much success with your booklet. :)

I like your website but there's a lot of text there to read...and for me, it didn't seem to hold my attention very much. I would suggest having a link to your booklet/products closer to the top of your site. Also...maybe your articles page up at the top included in your nav bar.

JMO...Others may have different views.

I like those titles. :)

Hi, Tammy.

Thanks for your comments. I really think what I'm going to do is give writers their own website. I initially designed this website with business owners in mind, and thought I could market to writers with it as well since I'm marketing the same product to both markets. But, that just isn't the case.

Even if I add a splash page with two areas to click on, and it takes authors to their page and business owners to theirs, I think it's going to get confusing once they get to the products page. I've got products for authors and products for business owners and it just seems to me that each should have their own page. I tried to separate it all into categories, but I don't think that's enough.

So, my website is going to get a huge overhaul and I'll pull out ALL the writing stuff and put that into a completely new website. Then, the only problem left is my blog. I guess I'll have to start a new one just for writers and move all my writing posts to it.

It's going to be a huge project for me but I don't see any other way to do it. I know in my gut it's what I have to do. I just didn't want to do it. But, it will make my marketing job much easier in the end.

I'm glad you like my titles. What's inside is even better! :D

Spending a few weeks at home with my parents really got me in the writing mode. Yeah! I think with holidays and stress I was a bit out of it. But I am ready to start churning out some good stuff!

Whats everyone doing in December? Or are you all taking a Christmas break?

Hey Judi,

I'm glad you had a good time with your parents. :)

Yes, I am taking a break from most of the forums and site promotions until the new year. It sounds like you are ready to get back at it though. ;)

I may find some time for writing though, but I'm not holding my breath on that one! lol :hee:

Break? What's that??? ;)

No, I'm still working. The holidays just add another layer of things I have to do. But, I finally got organized this year so I don't have to do all the holiday wrapping and decorating at the last minute. The tree is done, the house is done and all the gifts are already wrapped and ready to go. With all that done, I have the time to work on getting my new products ready for market.
