I'll start by saying thank goodness everyone is ok. We drove about 40 minutes away this afternoon. The offramp is 3 lanes. The right lane turns right. The middle lane will go left or right and the left lane turns left.

We were in the middle lane, 3 cars back from the red light. In the right hand lane was a semi. I'm not sure who was in the left lane. All of a sudden we heard metal against metal. We were being hit on the right hand side.

The woman who hit us, kept driving. She was now between the semi and the car in front of us. She hit the car in front of us before hitting the semi and wedging her car a bit under the semi.

We called 911 and they dispatched police as the woman was now stuck in her car. Her car was not movable at all.

I don't believe she even knew she hit us as she kept driving thus hitting two more cars.

The car in front of us tried to move but couldn't as the accident causer was kind of stuck on the car in front of us.

Finally, 3 cops and two huge firetrucks came. It took 5 men to move the car in front of us and get the woman out. She was physically ok. She was old old old. When we drove away, they had not yet unlodged her car from the semi :(

What an ordeal.

Audrey - praise God that you and your family were not injured! I don't know if I could even drive after going through something like that - I'd be shaking all over.

The drive home was horrible. We were so on edge.

Today, I'm way calmer.

Oh wow Audrey, yikes! :(

It's a huge wonder nobody got injured! I'm glad you guys are OK. :)
What about your car Audrey?

The damage to our car is "minor". Basically what the woman did was side swipe us. However she was very close and drove the entire length of our car, so it's scraped and scratched from back to front. There are small dents. The side mirror was snapped. I'm certain it will cost her $1000 but the damage is not extensive.

She didn't even "hit" us. Meaning there was no "impact". Truly, we heard metal against metal, turned and there she was.

I just don't understand how she was on a freeway and didn't kill herself or others. She not only went into a non existant lane, but she had no clue she had hit us. The only thing that stopped her from hit and run was the semi :(

Glad that the damage is minor.

You say the woman was really, really old. It sounds like she shouldn't even be driving! :? lol

Just thankful nobody was hurt (or killed).

I'm speechless. It's hard to comprehend that she had no clue what she did to you, the other car and the semi. She's extremely lucky she didn't kill herself. Time to buy that lotto ticket.

Oh. My. God.

I am SO glad it wasn't worse. How scary!

That poor woman -- I'm sure she's shook up enough she'll have to think twice about keeping her license now.

Not the funnest weekend Audrey! Ugh.
