I'm currently researching affiliate marketing for my writing website, which does not currently offer any products or services from me or anyone else.
What have been your experiences with affiliate marketing?
Would it be worth my time with the type of website I have?
Is it permissible to engage in affiliate marketing on a free website?
I eagerly await hearing all of your experiences.
I'd also like any suggestions you have on any other similar ways of generating a little more income. What about pay per click?
Thanks so much!
Hi Michelle,
I personally haven't had much luck with affiliate marketing but then I can honestly say I don't work it like I should. It's one of those things that you get out what you put in to it. The more you work it the better your profits will be.
I only have my one website and with it being a service based site (for my VA biz), it's a little harder to do affiliate marketing on (at least I think so). But I do plan to put up a few informational sites where I can add some Google adsense and other affiliate products to.
I don't know much about any of it so hopefully others will post because I'm interested in what they have to say too.

Thanks for your input. I'm considering signing up with some free sites for this. I don't want to be tacky, though.

What about specific affililiation? Say for instance I really appreciate Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty. Is there a way I can look for that company?
If I decide to do this, where should the links go on my website?

Hi Michelle,
I haven't had a good experience with affiliate marketing, and believe it has to do with the number of affiliates in every program. It appears that there were always some people who knew better marketing techniques than I, so they got the sales instead of me :-(
I did sell a few products, but ended up spending more in advertising, like PPC and ezines to name a few, so I decided to drop this type of marketing and went into auto-surfing and direct sales marketing. I'm currently making very good money with these. If you are interested, please visit my sites t the end of this post. And e-mail me at dreamaffiliate@yahoo.com if you have questions.
No hard pressure, just something to consider. Also, you may want to try Adsense. If you have a good amount of traffic to your site, you can get paid for showing these types of ads in your website. Go to google and explore. It's easy and works!
Success,
Tammy

I never did get into affilate marketing, but it was just laziness on my part.
I have heard a lot of good things about autosurfing as you mentioned, and will take a look at your sites.
Adsense is no good for me since my account was terminated for "invalid clicks." You're supposed to read the directions and not click on your own ads even if it interests you, I learned after the fact!
Thanks for your help, Tammy!
