I have had very good luck in getting traffic from Craigslist and other free ad sites on the net.

Perhaps you can share some tips about using Craigslist. I've never gotten a sale from my efforts there.

It just depends on how you place your ads on Craigslist. Most people try and post to as many cities as possible this is not always the best way to go.

I have heard about Craig's List but never visited (note to self!). Anyhow, how is it unique? As Audrey asked, is there any tips you can provide as to what is the best way to list there?
Thanks!

Some of the best methods just use a simple text ad with no link at all. I have ran many of my most successful campaigns like this . You have to remember Craigslist gets over seven billion page views a month but a very large percentage only come from a few select cities.

Andrea,
I would love an ebook on using Craigs list. Like I said, I've never sold a thing. I've tried big cities, small cities, ads for new recruits, ads for new customers and not a dime. I've had a few folks contact me, but no sale was made. I believe my email is in my profile...thanks!!!!!

While I certainly thank you for the ebook, I was very disappointed. The entire book is how to bend the rules, sneak around, outsmart the sytem etc. That's just not me.

I never received a copy of the book . But yes sometimes you have to be sneaky and bend the rules to get a large number of sales. But that's true in business in general . If I see a way that I can can an advantage on my competition I usually will try it . Some all around good posting tips are
Target only high value cities
Don't use the exact same ad in each post
Change emails at least every 5 posts
Try and rotate ips at least every 5 posts

I don't agree. I believe in being creative, but I don't believe in bending the rules or being sneaky. I prefer the integrity of doing business totally above board, by the rules. If others profit by NOT doing that - well, they win now but lose later. I prefer the straight narrow road, myself.
Additionally, I believe that people want to do business with people they feel they can trust. If someone were bending the rules and being sneaky in their marketing - how do I know I can trust them to deal with me honestly?

If someone were bending the rules and being sneaky in their marketing - how do I know I can trust them to deal with me honestly? Simply by the results you would see . I have had many clients go from 1 or 2 sales a week to 30 or 40 sales per week. Once the increase in sales becomes apparent I would say the results would be proof enough.

I think you misunderstood my comment. Here's what I mean:
If a business person is bending the rules and being sneaky in their business dealings, why would I trust them enough to sign up under them or even do business with them? If they bend the rules and are sneaky to get customers, clients and a downline, I would assume that they had no problem dealing with me AS as client, customer or downline with the same mentality. I want to know that the person I'm actually doing business with has integrity and plays by the rules.
"I have had many clients go from 1 or 2 sales a week to 30 or 40 sales per week. Once the increase in sales becomes apparent I would say the results would be proof enough." I have no doubt that the techniques work, I just wouldn't trust the person using them so I, personally, wouldn't want to do business with them. It doesn't matter to me that the sneaky, rule bending tips and advice advances sales by 10 or 10,000%. Its just not for me or my style and I wouldn't do business with anyone who recommends that way to do business.

Dealing with a client is a totally different matter than marketing . If someone cheats their clients I am in total agreement with you. But as long as what ever marketing methods or techniques used are totally legal why not use them. To me business is about making money the bottom line so to speak. True some terms of service agreement might be breached with some free ad site but this hardly illegal maybe unethical at worst . But if I see a dramatic increase in sales I can live with it. I guess you and I have a difference of opinion on this matter . As far as trusting the person using these methods again all I can say is the results speak for themselves .

I'm on the side of ethics also :) Look, slumlords make money. That does mean they way they make money is ethical. So...seeing more sales does not mean that ethics or integrity were involved. My integrity means a lot to me. I prefer my integrity over a few sales, even over 1000 sales. A slumlord prefers money over integrity. I just can't agree.
I'm all in favor of placing a new ad daily, but when I have to sneak around, change email address, create new email addresses etc, nope that's not for me.
In fairness to the book....while the tactics suggested all fall on the side of sneakiness and rule breaking, I did get some thoughts on a few ways to possibly use Craigslist that would be totally ethical. Give me 30 days to try out what I consider to be ethical and I'll post again my thoughts about Craigslist.

I completely understand it might not be for you. But it is for a lot of people who want to dramaticly increase their sales. Anyone who could increase my sales from 2 a week to over 30 a week is someone I would want on my team .

Rich321, Can I have your e-mail address so that I can forward you the copy of that ebook....
My request to everyone here would be to send their e-mail addresses either on the post or via pm to me so that I can send the ebook to them via e-mail...got some messages via pm without any e-mail address so that's why..

I decided to click on signature links of those who disagree with me. My reason was to see exactly what was being sold. When I clicked on these links I found links to sites that had only been up well, under a month. I've been in business since 1983. Perhaps that's why I believe ethics are so important and others believe that anything goes in business. I just know that very very few people make it in today's world if ethics does not exist in their business.
In a previous post I talked about folks who make money through slumlording. They too are often made the example by society. Society in generaly does not wish to support or endorse those who lose ethics from their businesses.

I would like to add one more very important piece of information. The writer of the ebook is "Mark McDonald". A very very common first and last name. Whoever wrote the book made it a point to NOT put any form or reaching him, no email, no website, nothing that makes him traceable.
That alone causes a huge red flag for me. I've written an ebook, my name and URL are all over it. I've read other ebooks, their names and URL are all over it. There are two reasons to write an ebook, for the money or for the traffic. So...who really wrote the book and why?
At the very end of the book, the author does give a URL to visit with his forum. Guess what? Forum is now a dead URL.

Ok...one more post here...I did find the author of the book. His name is indeed Mark McDonald. I went to his site. I read his testimonials. I clicked on the URL's from his testimonials...guess his product didn't work as well as he'd like you think...the URL's on his testimonies are dead.
So what is he selling??? ROFL...a product that is no longer available. Guess someone, somewhere decided to take legal action to get his product off the market.
Anyone still believe lack of ethics is the route to go?

I'm 100% with Audrey. I would rather have someone with integrity on my team than someone who bends the rules and has to resort to sneaking to get business - no matter how much they might increase my bottom line.
There really is more to life than making more money. I happen to value honesty and integrity above dollars and cents.

I have never heard of him . I guess his methods didn't work that well . I have had very good results with my methods and system though. I see increases in sales for my cutomers every day .

It might not be for you. But I myself like being on the winning team making sales and making my customers happy. In business it is the bottom line that counts with most people .
