Question about blogging

Hello,
I've never had a blog and I've never really read a blog either. From everything that I've read it seems that blogging is a good way to promote your website. I guess my question is if I started a blog how would I get people to find my blog and read it? Also where at online can I get a blog?

Well for where to get a blog...there are many different blogging sites out there.

The 2 most popular is "Wordpress" and Blogger.com

With Wordpress...if you have hosting for your sites, you can download wordpress through your cpanel. Click on fantastico and you can download it there. It's really simple. ;)

www.blogger.com is also a good one to use. It's very user friendly and you can also have Google Adsense on it.

For promoting your blog...networking on message forums, writing articles, getting listed in directories are all good promotion techniques. After you start blogging, you will want to start trading links with other bloggers and commenting on various blogs. This in itself will help promote your blog.

Just to clarify there are two wordpress you can use. The first Wordpress is if you have your own domain name and hosting and the other Wordpress is free like blogger.com and it doesn't allow for Adsense ads.

I have read many times it is better to start out blogging (if you're serious about it) by getting your own domain name and hosting. As opposed to using a free site then moving it over later, plus all that hard work would have to be started on your own domain name.

Blogger.com is very easy to use, but it is limited to what you can do with them. There are other free ones like livejournal, Squidoo, TypePad etc.

Blogging takes time and work like everything else...you may want to try article writing about your business.
