To determine how effective your advertising Dollars are being spent, you need some kind of website traffic analyzer. These usually cost a monthly fee (fairly cheap). The reports you will get from this will tell you where your visitors are coming from. Using this info, you can determine if it's still a good idea to spend money on xyz website.
For our business, for example, we use one of our own products called Traffic Facts. This helped us to stop spending money advertising on MySpace and a couple of other sites since the percentage of visitors from those sites were single digit. So, regardless of what package you use, you should have this information so you know where you should be spending your advertising Dollars.
There are a lot of free websites where you can post your business too. Craigslist is one that comes to mind.
Google AdWords is something you should try because even on a budget, YOU can determine your monthly cost and it won't exceed that, so that puts you in control.
Make sure your web site is search engine optimized (SEO is the term you'll see on this). This is no small task! It's hard and it's a lot of work and it will take a lot (months) of time to see results. You can do this manually by reading around on how to do SEC or you can buy a SEO package and attach it to your web site. These packages will analyze your site and tell you what you have to do to make it Google-search friendly. Google owns the search engine market right now with about 70% of the folks using Google to do their searches.
There are a lot of areas on your website that have to be just right. Once you have fixed your site the package will check again and when it's happy you've done all the right things, it will submit your web site to the search engines. Then it will take a lot of time before you see any results in your website ranking. Ranking is what it's all about. It's not an over night thing. This area has a lot of companies selling SEO packages so you have to be a little more careful here in what you buy. Of course, you can do this all manually and save some money but again, it's hard work. We use one of our own products called Traffic Blazer but there are many other fine products out there too.
I just looked at your website. Very nice looking website. However, you have no meta tags on your home page! It will be much more difficult for search engines to find you!! When you look at view page source you'll find no "keywords" in the home page source. So, clearly, you have your work cut out for you for SEO, so the sooner you can get started on that the sooner people will be able to find your site!

First of all, never lie. No one will ever have a long term business if they have to lie. :) You're new to the market? My father has been involved in network and internet marketing for the past twelve years and has had extraordinary success. One of the biggest things we try to do is educate people. You're starting out, and trying to make fast money in a non-growth company. Obviously, one can't expect to get a whole lot more out of the company than what they're paying. One of the biggest things we have people look at is rate of growth in the company, rate of sales growth in the company, and the number of people advancing in ranks on a monthly basis. This is a strong indicator of the health of the opportunity. - Not the health of the company. Herbalife is a very excellent, healthy company. For example, if you were a stock broker, in some companies you're looking for fast growth. - Which normally, you'd expect higher risk. But that's not always the case. In network marketing, there can be some excellent, fast growing companies that have as little risk as for example, Herbalife. Herbalife is probably growing 5ish% a year, versus something else that's growing 10% a month. Obviously if you were going to invest your money at 10% a month with no risk you'd do it over 5% a year. Herbalife's been around for over 25 years. They're a great, stable company. However, there's just a lot better companies and opportunities out there that don't require a lot of risk. A lot of money is made in network marketing. However, the money is usually made during periods of rapid growth on part of the company. Most of the companies that have gotten to the point of Herbalife have already gone through a rapid growth spurt. - Much like a teenager goes through their growth stage, afterwards it slows down. There are a lot of dishonest people that will lie in order to make money. - But more than that are ignorant people. People that really just don't know the business or how money is made. If you are interested, you can always talk to me. We have a lot of blogs and websites offering information in this area.
As far as making money, it can be done! :) If you'd just like general information about other forms of advertising, ect. that's something I can get into later.
God bless! :)
